Broadcom and Atheros have successfully tested for compatibility solutions for 802.11n

Specification 802. 11n provides for data transmission in wireless networks at speeds up to 600 Mbit / s. For comparison, the standard is now being introduced WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) provides up to 70 Mbit / s. Standard 802. 11n, uses not licensed in most of the frequency bands 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz and will be compatible with the 802. 11a/b/g.
The first products with support for 802. 11n in April, has already. announced. vendors such as Buffalo Technology, D-Link and Netgear. It is expected that fully compatible with standard equipment will be available until late this year. Is currently under active testing of products submitted for compatibility,. According to. InfoWorld.
However, the standard of the next generation of wireless 802. 11n, as. According to. CNET News, do not be ratified until next year.
The final version of the standard specification 802. 11n. was approved. In January of this year. Several dozen companies unanimously voted to adopt the standard proposed by a consortium of EWC (Enhanced Wireless Consortium). This specification assumes the possibility of data transmission in wireless networks at speeds up to 600 Mbit / s. This is almost an order of magnitude higher than the standard now being introduced WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access), which provides up to 70 Mbit / s. A new standard 802. 11n, which uses unlicensed in most countries of the frequency bands 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, compatible with the 802. 11a/b/g.
It is assumed that the ratification of the standard 802. 11n at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) will take more than six months. Thus, the final specification will be adopted, probably in early 2007.
